Julie arrived. Our very first visitor to stay since shifting into our apartment a month ago. “Collecting” Julie from the airport was straight forward – a matter of catching the 560 bus just around the corner from our place and disembarking right outside the arrivals terminal of SeaTac Airport. $2.50 and no bells to ding – it couldn’t have been easier.
Talking nonstop on the way home was a god send – something I had missed doing since leaving home. I have tried to get HG into the habit and bless him, he has tried – but it’s the topic that lets us down. Fire Engines, beer, and the price of vehicles are subjects I can’t quite talk the hind legs off of, nor can he of shoes, fashion and men.
Julie and I on the other hand found plenty of things to talk about, and the two days she spent with us were the perfect opportunity to get her advice on things that only a female friend could advise on. We found several pairs of glasses that could have suited me had I made up my mind on what “look” I was going for …… and had I not been so displeased at the shop attendants lack of enthusiasm to find me the perfect pair! Unreasonable, I know.
I introduced Julie to Bellevue Collection and my favourite stores in it, we walked a few new streets that I hadn’t ventured down before and entered shops that I’d not dared to on my own. “We” even got brave and Julie got a haircut at the super cool Seven – a hair salon that employs 72 stylists, tropical fish in a huge tank, and a DJ!
Hoping that she had a sweet tooth I thought I would take Julie to Main Street Market Place where there is an excellent Pastry Bakery. There we each chose our favourite – mine a creamy filled flakey pastry, Julie’s an almond croissant and went back to Main Street Flats and ate them on the roof top terrace in the sun………. bliss!
The highlight of Julie’s visit though would have to be her and I dancing Running Man to Andy Williams I CAN’T TAKE MY EYES OF YOU in our fishbowl apartment on the fourth floor of Main Street Apartments overlooking Main Street Bellevue at 3pm without a glass of wine in sight!
Unsurprisingly Julie has other friends and has gone to stay with Olwen in Seattle. I hope we can catch up next week for a few more chinwags and pastries because sadly, I was asleep this morning when she left. It is obvious more walking and talking training is required for my next girlfriend visitor – HG can you help?
I’m reading your blog at 6.20am, on an empty stomach, would love one of those pastries right now! How exciting to have a friend share your adventure . Looked up the hair salon you mentioned, wow!
